چکیده
Low speed, high torque machines are used in wind turbines where the turbine rotor is directly connected to generator. A permanent magnet synchronous generator using high-energy rare-earth magnets (PMs) one common choice for this application, but PMs have supply insecurities and cost risks. free 32-pole PM generator, ferrite a spoke-type rotor, use 12 kW experimental built tested. Voltages currents at load no measured, as well magnetic field end regions of machine. The can deliver required power nominal speed has low harmonic content output. electrical measurements compared two-dimensional finite element design calculations results lower than expected from simulations. measured voltage expected, requiring higher current calculated rated power. Three-dimensional simulations show that there leakage flux paths end-regions overlook, explaining discrepancy between measurements.

متن کاملA Complete Design of a Rare Earth Metal-Free Permanent Magnet Generator
The price of rare-earth metals used in neodymium-iron-boron (NdFeB) permanent magnets (PMs) has fluctuated greatly recently. Replacing the NdFeB PMs with more abundant ferrite PMs will avoid the cost insecurity and insecurity of supply. Ferrite PMs have lower performance than NdFeB PMs and for similar performance more PM material has to be used, requiring more support structure. Flux concentrat...

متن کاملArtificially produced rare-earth free cosmic magnet
Chemically ordered hard magnetic L10-FeNi phase of higher grade than cosmic meteorites is produced artificially. Present alloy design shortens the formation time from hundreds of millions of years for natural meteorites to less than 300 hours. Electron diffraction detects four-fold 110 superlattice reflections and a high chemical order parameter (S 0.8) for the developed L10-FeNi phase. The ma...
متن کاملRare-earth Permanent Magnets: New Magnet Materials and Applications
The introduction of rare-earth permanent magnets based on samarium-cobalt in about 1970, and neodymium-iron-boron magnets in the mid-nineteen eighties, has ushered in a new era in hard magnetic materials. This has resulted in a dramatic improvement in permanent magnet performance, with neodymium-iron-boron (Nd2Fe14B) magnets having a magnetic energy product up to an order of magnitude greater t...
